My Journey: How It All Started

AT THE BEGINNING THERE WAS CURIOSITY ..

Growing up in the German countryside with a multicultural background, I experienced racism and narrow-mindedness from an early age—a struggle that shaped much of my childhood. But at 16, everything changed. I was fortunate to take part in an intercultural youth exchange, spending a year in Brazil. That experience opened my eyes: Life is what you make of it. Everything was possible.

From that moment, I craved more. More cultures, more flavors, more perspectives. After graduating high school, I set off on a journey—first to India for a year of volunteering, then to Australia for a "work & travel" adventure. Along the way, I faced challenges: feeling lost, sleeping on beaches, navigating the unknown, and learning to trust life’s unfolding path.

I was searching—for myself, for purpose, for stories that inspired me. For something meaningful to dedicate my life to.

Soon after I started earning money, I realized that happiness wasn’t hidden there either. The sense of fulfillment I was searching for had nothing to do with financial success—it was about connection. Connection with the world around me, with myself, and with others. Yet, the more I traveled, the more the world seemed to spiral into chaos.

Looking backwards everything was “there” from the very beginning

Never thought it was possible to feel such a connection to an animal. (that was before Lucky coming into my life). Missing you Tulsi!

But there was something—a small sign—that had been with me all along. At the very start of my year in Australia, while clearing a table as a waiter, I stumbled upon a postcard. Something about it struck me, and for reasons I couldn't explain, I kept it.

Months passed, and that postcard slowly started to make more and more sense.

Then, high up in the Himalayan mountains, I met people who would change the course of my journey forever. Through their way of being, their stories, and an unexpected invitation, they showed me something I hadn’t even known I was looking for.

The Power of Information – How One Book Inspired a Movement

Information is powerful—sometimes, one book, one conversation, or one new insight can spark a movement.

📖 The "Yellow Hemp Bible" That Inspired a Generation
Many of today’s hemp pioneers, including German industrial hemp expert Raphael Dulon, were inspired by a single book: The Emperor Wears No Clothes by Jack Herer.

This book, first published in German as Hanf in collaboration with Mathias Bröckers, became the go-to resource for anyone wanting to understand why hemp was banned—and why it must return.

For Raphael, reading this book wasn’t just an education—it was a turning point. It set him on a path to become one of Europe’s leading figures in industrial hemp farming.

💡 This proves one simple truth:

knowledge is power.

The right information challenges outdated narratives, changes perceptions, and creates pioneers.

👉 Passion sparks passion—let’s share, connect, and grow together.

How a Single Story Changed Everything

Sometimes, a single encounter can shift our perspective so deeply that it reshapes our entire path. For me, it was meeting a Nepali hemp entrepreneur in the himalayan mountains who turned an ancient plant into livelihoods and empowerment. Her story opened my eyes—not just to hemp, but to the power of storytelling itself.

What started as curiosity evolved into a purpose—capturing untold stories, challenging stigmas, and using film to ignite change. Because stories don’t just inform us—they shape our perception, change our destiny and even the world around us.

  • 1️⃣ How It All Started – A Life-Changing Encounter

I never planned to become a filmmaker. After high school, I spent a year in India and Australia, working, traveling, and discovering the power of choice and self-determination. Photography was my passion, but a 420-infused epiphany on an Australian beach made me realize I wanted to tell deeper stories.

A chance meeting in Singapore with a German survival artist led me to invest in better camera gear, and within weeks, I found myself on an organic farm in Nepal, filming my first-ever video project—despite having zero experience in filmmaking.

Then, in Pokhara, I wandered into a small shop selling hemp backpacks. Behind the counter stood Sunti Saugat, a Nepali entrepreneur with a radiant smile and a powerful story. She explained how wild Himalayan hemp was empowering rural communities, providing jobs and sustainability.

    Then she asked me:

👉 "Would you like to collaborate with me?"

I had no experience in business or hemp—but something inside me screamed YES!

Eight weeks later, 150 handcrafted hemp backpacks arrived at my tiny room in Berlin. But the deeper I looked, the bigger the story became.

🎥 From Backpacks to Filmmaking: A Bigger Story Unfolds

I was advised that filming my journey could be a great way to launch a crowdfunding campaign, so I traveled back to Nepal. But what started as documentation turned into discovery.

I ventured deep into the hidden valleys of the Himalayas, where I met the true protectors of these mountains—people who had used hemp for centuries:

🚜 They harvested and processed hemp by hand.
🏡 They used it for textiles, construction, food, medicine, and more.
♻ Every part of the plant had a purpose.

It felt like stepping into Avatar’s Pandora—not about textiles, but about survival, sustainability, and self-sufficiency.

I returned to Berlin with stunning footage, but even more questions:

💡 Why did such a powerful plant have no real place in our modern world?
💡 Why was Cannabis still stigmatized—even in Nepal, where growing hemp was illegal?
💡 Who was benefiting from keeping this plant in the shadows?

    That’s when everything aligned.

Through Mary Jane Berlin, I met a mentor, a cameraman, and soon after, a cancer survivor at the Turkish marketwho casually said:

👉 "Without this plant, I wouldn’t be alive today."

We filmed an interview—the first of over 100 interviews with patients, doctors, activists, and pioneers.

This wasn’t just a product or a business.

💡 This was a movement that needed to be told.

And so, I set out to tell it.

My values – The Foundation of My Work

It’s never been easy for me to stick to just one path, but this journey has lasted now over 10 years—despite many lows, changing living places, burnout, dropping out of college, having no money, no team, no gear.

Yet, I kept going.

Why? Because this project and mission deeply aligns with my core values:

  • Creating, learning, and doing what truly excites us.

We are not here just to work, pay bills, and consume. At least, I refuse to believe that. Purpose is about growth, kindness, and contribution.

If something keeps you awake at night with excitement—follow it. This mission has given me strength during times of uncertainty, financial struggle, and doubt. It’s what gets me out of bed every morning—knowing that I can use my work to inspire, inform, and create impact.

  • Challenging unjust laws, misinformation, and environmental harm.

The prohibition of Cannabis led to deep stigma, criminalization, and suffering, especially for marginalized communities. Millions of lives were destroyed, and nature suffered as chemical alternatives replaced hemp’s sustainable solutions.

I have personally experienced the injustice of prohibition—facing fines and legal trouble not for harming anyone, but simply for Cannabis-related assumptions. The system is flawed. But knowledge is power. When enough people understand the truth, we can create change.

  • With great power comes great responsibility.

I’m not a big superhero fan, but Uncle Ben was right:
"With great power comes great responsibility."

Knowledge is power, and if we understand how Cannabis and hemp can heal, sustain, and transform industries, we have the responsibility to use this wisdom wisely.

We stand at a pivotal moment—we can either let corporations monopolize and exploit this plant for profit, taking away one of our last, most affordable and democratic resources, or we can ensure it’s used ethically, for the benefit of people and the planet.

    The choice is ours.

"These values guide every film I make, every topic I explore, every collaborator I choose, and every step I take in this journey."

“Without Cannabis, I wouldn´t even be here anymore!” -

Cancer survivor Robert H.

For most of my life, Cannabis was just Cannabis—something I like to smoke, something controversial, something misunderstood.

Then everything changed.

Almost at the same time that one of my closest family members was diagnosed with a tumor, I met Robert, a cancer patient in Berlin. He told me how he had to smuggle Cannabis into the hospital— because it was the only thing giving him appetite and keeping him alive.

💡 This was the moment I realized: Cannabis isn’t just a plant—it’s a lifeline.

That conversation with Robert was just the beginning. What started as a single filmed interview turned into years of research, deep conversations with doctors, scientists, and patients, and the strong realization that medical Cannabis is a necessity for many, yet still inaccessible for most.

Despite overwhelming real-world evidence, medical Cannabis remains widely ignored, restricted, or demonized. Why?

🚫 Big Pharma Has No Interest → A natural plant can’t be patented, meaning there’s no financial incentive to fund large-scale clinical trials.
🚫 Governments & Outdated Policies → Many still classify Cannabis as a narcotic, making research unnecessarily complex or impossible.
🚫 Misinformation & Fear-Based Politics → Politicians reuse outdated stigmas to win votes from those who simply don’t know the facts.

The truth is, millions of people worldwide depend on Cannabis for relief—but politics, corporate interests, and outdated laws continue to stand in the way.

💡 This is why I passionately document these stories—because the more people know, the harder it becomes to ignore the truth.

Medical Cannabis – A Lifeline, Not just a Plant

One of my most memorable interview highlights was meeting Professor Raphael Mechoulam (1930–2023) —the "Godfather" of modern cannabis science—in his office at the University of Jerusalem. His pioneering work in isolating THC in 1961 and CBD in 1963 not only laid the cornerstone for modern cannabis research but also paved the way for the later discovery of the endocannabinoid system (ECS).

Hemp – The Sustainable Powerhouse

Just the scent of the plant—its terpenes, like limonene—can instantly uplift you, sending a wave of well-being through your entire body. Hemp is one of humanity’s oldest cultivated crops, deeply intertwined with our history, innovation, and survival like no other plant.

Most people don’t realize that Cannabis and Hemp are NOT the same thing (and yet belong to the same species)

✔ Hemp (Cannabis Sativa L.) → Industrial, non-psychoactive, used for textiles, food, fuel, and more.
✔ Medical & Recreational Cannabis → Contains THC, used for medical and therapeutic purposes.

🌍 Carbon Capture Champion → Absorbs 13.4 tons of CO₂ per hectare—as much as a tropical forest!
♻ Zero-Waste → Every part of the plant is usable (bioplastics, textiles, fuel, food, medicine).
💧 Minimal Water, No Pesticides → Grows with 80% less water than cotton and restores soil health.
🏗 Stronger Than Steel, Lighter Than Concrete → Hempcrete can replace synthetic building materials.

CONCLUSION

"The fight for Cannabis—both as medicine and as a sustainable resource—isn't just about legalization. It’s about dismantling decades of misinformation, corporate greed, and political fear tactics that have kept a life-saving medicine from patients and a planet-saving crop from industries that need it most."

For those of you who are curious, here's a little more Q&A!

  • It all started with… my parents. Just kidding! 😆

It actually began with a student exchange to Brazil in 2016, where I caught the travel bug—badly. After finishing high school, I set off on a 12-month adventure living and working in India, Australia, and beyond, experiencing life in its rawest form: hardships, loneliness, poverty, synchronicities, deep friendships, work, no work, too much work, love, and existential questions.

At one point, I found myself in Nepal, seeking meditation and meaning. Just days after realizing I wanted to dedicate myself to something truly impactful, I stumbled upon a woman—a local hemp pioneer—who was empowering disadvantaged communities by helping them make a living while protecting Himalayan wild hemp.

Within minutes of conversation, she looked at me and asked:
"Would you like to join my project?"

I had zero clue about hemp, but my gut screamed "OH HELL YES!" Before I knew it, I was diving headfirst into the biggest adventure of my life.

Fast forward a few months, and I was back in Berlin—standing in my tiny Kreuzberg apartment—with nearly 200 hemp backpacks stacked to the ceiling.

And that was just the beginning. 🚀

  • I stopped my personal cannabis journey in September 2023 after an incredible music festival experience with my sober friends. They showed me that it’s absolutely possible to have an amazing time without cannabis or any other substances. Before that, I had been a regular consumer for 14 years—mostly out of habit rather than conscious choice. While cannabis taught me many valuable lessons, for my current path, I prefer a clear mind and to reach calm, mindful states naturally.

I fully respect that recreational cannabis has a rightful place in many people’s lives—everyone should have the freedom to decide what they consume. And when it comes to medical patients or those who genuinely benefit from its therapeutic properties, there’s no question—it’s an invaluable tool.

For me, however, it was only after stepping away from regular use that I realized a deeper, unconscious truth: much of my cannabis consumption was trauma-informed. I had been using it as a form of escapism, avoiding certain topics that, in hindsight, would have been easier to process if I had faced them head-on.

For a long time, I told myself that being an advocate for cannabis meant I should also be a regular user. But eventually, I had to confront a hard truth—knowing so much about cannabis firsthand didn’t require me to consume it. In fact, if I truly wanted to elevate myself, my habits, and this project, I had to start making healthier choices—including taking time off cannabis.

After five months without it, I realized I wasn’t craving it anymore. I reflected on both the benefits and the downsides and saw that this shift was overwhelmingly positive. Despite many offers and temptations, I’m happier, more independent, and—most of all—clear and full of energy. Looking back, stepping away from cannabis was one of the best decisions I’ve made, and I have zero regrets.

  • In 2019, I had the incredible opportunity to spend a month in Israel, interviewing some of the world’s leading experts in Cannabis Science. The highlight of this journey was an in-depth, three-hour conversation with Professor Raphael Mechoulam, the Godfather of modern Cannabis research, in his office.

We explored his personal journey, the pioneering days of Cannabis research in Israel and the U.S., and the groundbreaking discoveries of THC (1964) and CBD (1963) that shaped the industry. Our discussion also touched on pressing issues like patents, the controversy around RSO (Rick Simpson Oil), and the real reasons why Big Pharma remains reluctant to fund large-scale clinical studies on Cannabis.

It was a rare and invaluable moment to sit with the man whose work revolutionized our understanding of Cannabis—a conversation that still fuels my mission today.

  • I’ve conducted over 100 high-quality interviews with experts, pioneers, and changemakers from around the world—each sharing their deeply personal journey with Cannabis and Hemp.

From local hemp farmers near Berlin embracing the plant for its versatility, to cancer patients who defied the odds by using it illegally in hospitals. From lawmakers fighting to overturn unjust Cannabis convictions, to former rockstarsturned advocates for legalization. I’ve spoken with growers, veterinarians, policymakers, and countless others, each with their own powerful story and reason for championing this plant.

Now, the next step is clear: bringing this knowledge to the world. I’m developing a documentary series to showcase the true potential of Cannabis—its impact on lives, industries, and the planet. But to make this vision a reality and create a global wave of awareness and connection, I’m looking for the right partners to help roll this out.

If you share this mission and want to be part of something transformative, let’s connect. Together, we can unite the global Cannabis community.

  • One of my favorite things about being part of this vibrant, diverse industry is the constant opportunity to stay connected with the latest trends and developments. Whether it's through attending conferences, conventions, online classes, or trainings, I get to learn from and engage with the brilliant, innovative people pushing boundaries in the cannabis space—while putting my language skills to use!

For instance, my two-year research into Cannabis Social Clubs in Spain has allowed me to build connections and truly feel like a part of their local community.

In February 2025, I completed a year-long training with ACM, the German branch of the Alliance of Cannabinoid Medicine. As an official counselor of cannabinoid medicines, I’m now able to guide people through the process of becoming patients and help them navigate the options and challenges they face. While I don't plan to work as a medical counselor right now, I find it invaluable to speak the same language as my interviewees—whether they are patients or doctors—and to truly understand their daily lives.

Every week, I discover new scientific and environmental breakthroughs related to this incredible plant, and that fuels me with hope and energy to continue finding the most interesting people and projects to document and share with the world!

  • After countless incredible encounters with experts across agriculture, medicine, technology, law, and beyond, it’s clear to me that cannabis is deeply intertwined with human culture. It’s about more than just a plant—it’s about our fundamental rights: the right to medicine and health, the freedom to grow and consume what we choose, and the ability to reach calmer states of mind without unjust interference. Historically, cannabis prohibition wasn’t about public safety; it was a tool to oppress marginalized communities, keeping certain groups at a disadvantage under the guise of law and order.

To me, cannabis rights are among the most crucial human rights of our time. They impact millions who are unfairly criminalized and intersect with nearly every sustainability goal, including the right to affordable, high-quality medical care that eases suffering.

Beyond cannabis, this discussion serves as an entry point to rethinking drug policies as a whole. Other recreational substances also need to be decriminalized and regulated—moving away from punishment and toward proper education and harm reduction.

It’s a vast and complex issue, but also an exciting one. Cannabis is a gift, and once we begin treating it as such—with respect, knowledge, and intention—I believe it can help us address some of the most existential challenges we face today.

  • Funny enough, despite being a workaholic, I make it a priority to fully enjoy my free time!

The first thing that comes to mind is spending time with Lucky, my best companion. We love our long walks—preferably out in the woods or by the beach, where we can just be in the moment.

Another huge passion of mine is dancing. I fell in love with Brazilian partner dancing while living in Brazil for a year, and over the last decade, I’ve deep-dived into Lindy Hop, Salsa, and Contact Improvisation—creating my own unique fusion along the way.

Music is a big part of my life. My taste is so diverse that it's hard to pick a favorite, but I love calm classical or techno tracks while working—and outside of that, anything that makes my Colombian hips move! 🎶

I’m also addicted to traveling, learning languages, and adventure—especially when I can combine them all. I started hitchhiking at 17, and until last year (before getting a car), it was my main way of traveling—even with Lucky by my side.

love the thrill of the unexpected—trusting the kindness of strangers, embracing the flow of life as it unfolds, and seeing the world through real experiences, not just what media or authority figures tell us it should be.

Another passion? Drones! I’m a dedicated drone pilot, always pushing limits, discovering new angles, and capturing the world from fresh perspectives.

In my downtime, I dive into podcasts, documentaries, and films to expand my horizons, experiment in the kitchen, and soak in the weekend farmers' market—one of my weekly highlights!

And, of course, my newest obsession: Surfing! Living in Berlin, I started longboarding as a way to prepare for surfing. Now that I’ve finally made the leap to live near the (surf) coast, I love being in the ocean, embracing the Atlantic cold, and constantly learning something new. 🌊🏄‍♂️

  • Lucky is turning 16 this year!!

    I know—he doesn't look a day over 5! Stoner dog ;)

In fact, he gets cannabis, and I’m convinced it's part of the reason he’s still in such great shape! I’m a huge fan of hemp protein and hemp oil (supplements), and they’ve both been beneficial for him.

Last year, Lucky had a stroke that affected his graceful walk, but CBD and CBG oil played a key role in helping him recover and get back on track.

A few months later, he was diagnosed with two tumors that needed to be removed. For his recovery and to help keep the tumors at bay, Lucky now regularly receives THC drops (along with CBD for his arthritis), and I can happily confirm: it works! This isn't just based on Lucky’s personal experience—many vets would agree. Animals have an endocannabinoid system that works even faster than ours, allowing cannabinoids to bind quickly and effectively. It’s a powerful, natural way to support our beloved pets.

  • Two years ago, as the possibility of legalization and the potential for Social Clubs in Germany started to look more promising, I decided to dive deep into researching the Spanish Social Club model. I wanted to understand the experiences of those involved, why so many delegations from around the world were eager to export this model to their own countries, and hear directly from those who represent different aspects of the system—growers, patients, Social Club founders, and advocates.

What began as a more straightforward research project quickly turned into a much more in-depth and cinematic exploration than I had initially planned. However, I’m incredibly grateful to have teamed up with some of the brightest minds from the activist scene.

We’re now preparing to launch a mini-series (five parts) all about the Spanish model—its strengths and weaknesses, the current situation in Germany’s Cannabis Social Clubs, and how both movements can learn from each other. We’ll also explore the differences and similarities between the two, and why Spain is so carefully watching what’s unfolding in Germany.

The topic is timely, the interviews are insightful, and I’m really stoked and optimistic that this series can help both movements better understand one another, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.

If you have more questions, feel free to reach out- I love a good conversation!
